Dear Friend,

If you do not already have a habit of gathering daily manna the first thing in the morning (we can look at the example given to us in Exodus 16 and find the pattern for make it a habit. Establish your life and your schedule to allow you the necessary time to do your daily collection first thing every morning to give you the strength to make it through the day. And remember that today’s manna will not be sufficient for tomorrow; tomorrow’s manna must be collected tomorrow morning.

Today's Passage : Today's Passage:Paul’s Vision of the Macedonian

Bible Verse :Acts 16:6-10

"And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them. So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them."

Message: It is here, in Acts 16, that Paul’s extraordinary travels to found Christ’s church really begins. He has reached the farthest points of his previous journey, the towns of Iconium, Derbe, and Lystra, where he has met his faithful assistant Timothy and added Timothy to his entourage. This becomes the jumping-off point of the journey called the “second journey (or mission) of Paul”. (Map of Paul’s Second Journey) Luke and Paul Luke and Paul The details have become sparse. Each sentence may compress months of time. They travel the length of Turkey into northern Greece (Macedonia) in the space of today’s few verses. And their travels were slow and difficult by today’s standards. In fact, the journey would have been near-impossible except for the Pax Romana. Notice the intriguing shift between first and third person. The writer sometimes refers to the group as “we” and sometimes as “they.” Luke is certainly the author of Acts, but was he actually with Paul in the second journey, or did he simply piece in another account, perhaps from Timothy? Many scholars believe that Luke, who became a devoted follower of Paul, might have been from Troas and joined the group there; this would certainly explain the shift from “they” to “we.”

Prayer : Now all glory to you, mighty God, who is able to keep me from falling away and will bring me with great joy into your glorious presence without a single fault. All glory to you who alone are God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are yours before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time,....Amen
