If you do not already have a habit of gathering daily manna the first thing in the morning (we can look at the example given to us in Exodus 16 and find the pattern for make it a habit. Establish your life and your schedule to allow you the necessary time to do your daily collection first thing every morning to give you the strength to make it through the day. And remember that today’s manna will not be sufficient for tomorrow; tomorrow’s manna must be collected tomorrow morning. Monday, April 22, 2019
Today's Passage : Today's Passage:Peter Returns to Jerusalem [2] Bible Verse:Acts 11:11-18 "“And behold, at that very moment three men arrived at the house in which we were, sent to me from Caesarea. And the Spirit told me to go with them, making no distinction. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered the man's house. And he told us how he had seen the angel stand in his house and say, ‘Send to Joppa and bring Simon who is called Peter; he will declare to you a message by which you will be saved, you and all your household.’ As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them just as on us at the beginning. And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?” When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.” " Message:
Peter is speaking in this passage. He has had a vision in which God commanded him to eat meat unclean under Jewish law, followed immediately from a request to travel to Caesarea, the Roman capital of Judea, to meet a Gentile centurion named Cornelius. Peter realizes that old covenant between God and the Jews has been withdrawn by the new covenant of Christ.
It has been difficult for him to accept, since he and all the disciples are Jewish; they have spent their entire lives practicing the law that eating with Gentiles, even entering their houses, is forbidden; now, suddenly, they must change. In human terms, this is a difficult task. Peter and his six companions are agitated. They have followed God’s command, however, and traveled to see and speak to Cornelius, the Roman soldier.
Now Peter fully realizes, in the depths of his soul, the importance of the vision and command he has received. When he speaks to the Gentiles, he is awed to see that the Holy Spirit descends upon them, just as it did on the Jews. God has given the same gift to the Gentiles that he gave to his chosen people. He accepts with humility that they are now the equals of the Jews in the eyes of God. Gentiles can be his brothers as much as Jews; it is belief in Christ, not Judaic law, that now defines the chosen people of the earth.
The conversion of the world outside Israel has now begun!
Meditation : Prayer : I pray that I may be blessed every step of my path this day by the great God of light. May your sun shine upon me; as the moon moves the tide, may your Spirit move my emotions with every grace and magic; may my heart sing with the voice of your angels and my hearth be warm; and may this and every blessed day You have given me be filled with joy.........Amen |
