Dear
Friend,
If you do not already have a habit of gathering daily manna the first thing in the morning (we can look at the example given to us in Exodus 16 and find the pattern for make it a habit. Establish your life and your schedule to allow you the necessary time to do your daily collection first thing every morning to give you the strength to make it through the day. And remember that today’s manna will not be sufficient for tomorrow; tomorrow’s manna must be collected tomorrow morning.

Today's Passage : Today's Passage:Noah and the Flood [Part 3]
Bible Verse:Genesis 7:1-12
"Then the Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation. You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female; also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the seed alive on the face of all the earth. For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will blot out from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.”
And Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him. Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters were on the earth.
Dove of Peace
So Noah, with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, went into the ark because of the waters of the flood. Of clean animals, of animals that are unclean, of birds, and of everything that creeps on the earth, two by two they went into the ark to Noah, male and female, as God had commanded Noah.
And it came to pass after seven days that the waters of the flood were on the earth. In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.
"
Message:
One common misconception about this story is that Noah took two of every animal on the ark; but as you just read, he took seven of all the “clean” animals. In fact, the context makes it seem that he took seven pair and took two pair of the unclean animals. Unclean animals are largely those which Jews could not eat (and Orthodox Jews do not eat today), notably pigs.
The numbers seem interesting. There has always been an interest, in those with an arcane mindset, in numerology in the Bible, especially the older Jewish books. There is an entire sect which believes in the Kaballah, a school of thought which teaches that there are hidden arcane meanings in the Bible known only to a chosen minority. Some of these meaning are numerical. In Noah’s case, the numbers two and seven seem to have some importance. Also, the period of forty days and forty nights, the same amount of time that Christ spent in the wilderness, appears to some people to have some mystical meaning.
I AM from Exodus 3:14
I AM (Exodus 3:14)
We have discussed the extraordinary difficulties in translating the Old Testament, and especially the first 11 chapters of Genesis. It is something of a miracle that we can understand them at all. But we don’t want to put too much credence in specific diction.
I am personally convinced that periods of time in the Old Testament are not translatable. “Months” and “hours” were definitely different even in Hebrew written millennia later (which is still difficult to translate). Noah might have lived 600 years, as we know it, but I wouldn’t count on it. Nobody has any definitive understanding of what the word translated “year” meant in paleo-Hebrew.
“Forty days and forty nights” is another term that might or might not mean what we understand the term to mean today. I think the Bible uses this term to mean an approximate period of time, perhaps “more than one lunar cycle but less than two.” I could be wrong!
The more important knowledge to take away from the story is what we can understand with precision. “Noah did according to all that the Lord commanded him.” Here, we are on firm ground (so to speak), both as to translation and meaning.

Prayer :
Let me not forget my prayers as I go out into the world. Holy Spirit, be with me, and let me praise you and remember you in my every action and thought, for the entire week long. In Christ’s name I ask this,....Amen
