If you do not already have a habit of gathering daily manna the first thing in the morning (we can look at the example given to us in Exodus 16 and find the pattern for collecting daily manna), make it a habit. Establish your life and your schedule to allow you the necessary time to do your daily collection first thing every morning to give you the strength to make it through the day. And remember that today’s manna will not be sufficient for tomorrow; tomorrow’s manna must be collected tomorrow morning. Monday, July 30, 2018

For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. For, “Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay; but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls." Our pep talk in Hebrews 10 is worth considering and remembering. It will inspire us, especially when we are embarassed by anti-Christian diatribes, or when we must endure the media’s delight at a self-proclaimed Christian doing something terrible. Professing Christianity puts a target on our back. People will laugh at you and lump you in with the many charlatans, hypocrites, and sanctimonious nut cases who call themselves “Christian.”

We are held to a different standard. When a person commits a crime, the media criticize the person. When a self-professed Christian commits a crime—or even a noncriminal sin, such as adultery or involvement in pornography—the media condemn Christianity as the temple of hypocrisy.
There are things we can say and do when we are criticized simply for being Christians, or when we see or hear “Christians” blamed for something. There is no licensing bureau for holding oneself out as a Christian. One who calls himself a doctor, a lawyer, or even a barber must be licensed, but anyone can claim to be a Christian. If such a person says or does something un-Christian—don’t blame me, and don’t blame Christ! As far as I can tell from my Bible reading, we can stick up for ourselves.
But the most important thing we should do, when we feel that we have been demonized because of our faith, is to read today's Scripture. We must always be ready for the world to attack us on account of our Christ, for Satan is powerful. Those who have not found Christ are powerless against him. And at least we are not often fed to lions today!
