If you do not already have a habit of gathering daily manna the first thing in the morning (we can look at the example given to us in Exodus 16 and find the pattern for make it a habit. Establish your life and your schedule to allow you the necessary time to do your daily collection first thing every morning to give you the strength to make it through the day. And remember that today’s manna will not be sufficient for tomorrow; tomorrow’s manna must be collected tomorrow morning. Wednesday, September 17, 2025

We know you are eager to join Him, but we implore you, pay no attention to these rumors. 2If you hear somebody making speeches or prophecies – or if you get a letter that purports to be from us! – telling you the Day of the Lord has arrived, ignore it. Do not let it upset you. 3-4 Here is how you can tell these rumors are false. Before the Day comes, there will be a noticeable falling away from the faith. Then a man who acts above the law, who exalts himself even above all objects of worship (both true and false) and who actually seats himself in the temple of God, will come into great prominence. He will proclaim himself to be a god. " Message:
Remember that in 1 Thess. 5, Paul had informed the Thessalonians that nobody know when the Day of the Lord would come. They were most anxious on the issue; and we must sympathize, for they had no Bible. They could not open the Gospel of Matthew to chapter 24 and read Christ’s words, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.” (Matt. 24:36)
Moreover, as we learn by inference from this passage, there were a number of charlatans, then as now, who claimed to have special knowledge about God, in general, and the time when Christ would come again, in particular. It seems someone had even forged a letter with Paul’s name on it, with information about the Second Coming.
Judgment Day 2011
Having once again assured the Thessalonians that the Day was not imminent, Paul gives them a few guidelines about what will occur. His description more-or-less parallels Jesus’ word (later to appear in Matthew’s Gospel) and the more thorough, and even more florid, account in Revelation. First, there would be a “falling away.” In simpler terms, a noticeable number of people would stop believing in Christ.
Secondly, a man would arise who would proclaim himself to be a god, seat himself in the Temple of God, and exalt himself above the law and all “objects of worship.” Presumably, God the Father and Jesus Christ would be included in this last category.
We cannot really tell, today, how literally we are to take this last image. We might think Stalin or Mao Tse Tung would have qualified, but neither of them really claimed to be a “god.” Perhaps Kim Jung Un might qualify, except he is such a minor figure.
Well, that is enough silly speculation from me. (I am starting to sound like the people Paul warned us against.) Countless thousands of charlatans and lunatics have appeared since these verses were written, stating that they knew when the Day was coming; so far, they have all been wrong!
