Dear
Friend,
If you do not already have a habit of gathering daily manna the first thing in the morning (we can look at the example given to us in Exodus 16 and find the pattern for make it a habit. Establish your life and your schedule to allow you the necessary time to do your daily collection first thing every morning to give you the strength to make it through the day. And remember that today’s manna will not be sufficient for tomorrow; tomorrow’s manna must be collected tomorrow morning.

Today's Passage : Today's Passage:The Righteousness of God’s Rules
BibleVerse:Deuteronomy 4:1-9
"And now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the rules that I am teaching you, and do them, that you may live, and go in and take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your fathers, is giving you. You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you. Your eyes have seen what the Lord did at Baal-peor, for the Lord your God destroyed from among you all the men who followed the Baal of Peor. But you who held fast to the Lord your God are all alive today.
Moses staff
See, I have taught you statutes and rules, as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should do them in the land that you are entering to take possession of it. Keep them and do them, for that will be your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who, when they hear all these statutes, will say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’
For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as the Lord our God is to us, whenever we call upon him? And what great nation is there, that has statutes and rules so righteous as all this law that I set before you today?
“Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children— . . .”
"
Message:
What a powerful message Moses delivers to the Hebrews here. This speech was made just before he delivered the Ten Commandments. The Hebrews are camping in a valley known as Peor, preparing to cross the Jordan River; Moses has already learned that God will not allow him to cross over with them.
Ten Words Moses on stone
He tells them three things: First, he instructs them to follow God's commandments. Second, he gives an example of what had just happened to those who did not follow them. And third, he gave a bit of advice that we have found nearly impossible to follow: Do not add anything, and do not take anything away, from what God has commanded.
Almost everyone finds it impossible to read the Bible without trying to overlook something they don’t want to hear. Or just as often, trying to explain why it means something other than its plain and simple meaning. We search for a rationale not to follow the parts we find difficult — it is human nature. At other times, we try to find something in the Bible that isn’t there, making the most outlandish inferences so that we can claim that the Bible agrees with our own personal ideas of morals or politics or correct behavior.
When we read the Bible, it is important to keep an open mind, to listen to what God says rather than to try to make the Bible say what we want it to. God knows the path to life and He has given us instructions. We may not like them, and we certainly don’t always follow them. But it is critical to know what they are. If nothing else, it will teach us how we have fallen short. Christ enabled us to ask for and receive forgiveness where we deviate from God’s law, but how are we to know what sins to confess, if we do not know God’s actual law?
Meditation
: “If ever we would have the church of God to continue among us, we must bring it into our households, and nourish it in our families.”
~ An American Puritan/p>
Prayer :
All through this day, O Lord, fill me with the power of your living Spirit. Let me touch the lives of others for good, whether through the words I speak, the prayers I speak, or the life I live.
Amen.
