If you do not already have a habit of gathering daily manna the first thing in the morning (we can look at the example given to us in Exodus 16 and find the pattern for make it a habit. Establish your life and your schedule to allow you the necessary time to do your daily collection first thing every morning to give you the strength to make it through the day. And remember that today’s manna will not be sufficient for tomorrow; tomorrow’s manna must be collected tomorrow morning. Monday, October 3, 2022
Today's Passage : Today's Passage :Have No Fear Bible Verse:Matthew 10:26-33 (ESV) "“So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven." Message:
The great confidence of Christianity is this: Truth will triumph. Three times in this passage Jesus tells his disciples — and us — to have no fear. To bear Christian witness, we must fully grasp that the judgments of eternity will correct the judgments of time. Nothing is covered (i.e. concealed) that will not, eventually, be uncovered.
Having assured the apostles of the inevitability of truth, Christ tells them to proclaim it. His words are odd in one respect, for when he says “what I tell you in the dark”, we must think: Christ was hardly shy about telling his good news in the open. Nor was he known for whispering! So, he is not talking about his public speeches, his Sermon on the Mount. He is telling them, and us, that we will learn the truth in prayer.
In all areas of life, truth can often best be found in the quiet and dark, where passion can be cooled and a train of thought followed into depths, depths that are hard to find in crowded or noisy places. Great thinkers always work alone; at least some of the time, anyone who seeks wisdom must seek it in private.
But then, what to do with it? A brilliant truth may germinate in the dark, but it must find the light to be communicated to others. As Thomas Grey wrote, in his marvelous Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard:
Full many a gem of purest ray serene,
The dark unfathomed caves of ocean bear:
Full many a flower is born to blush unseen,
And waste its sweetness on the desert air.
So, Jesus tells his disciples to shout it from the housetops! And what does this mean we should do? Witness to our faith; say it right out loud to other people. Jesus is King and we have every faith in Him, that by Him we have been saved from sin and will live with God for eternity. As Christian writer Alistair Begg puts it:
Withhold no part of the precious truth, but speak what you know and declare what you have seen. Do not allow the toil or darkness or possible unbelief of your friends to dissuade you. Let us rise and march to the place of duty, and there declare what great things God has shown to our soul.
Meditation : Prayer : And now, as a little child, let me abide in you all this day, oh Christ, so that when you appear I may have confidence and not shrink from you in shame at your coming. For I know that you are righteous, and I am sure that I will be made righteous only by my life in you......Amen |
