Dear Friend,

If you do not already have a habit of gathering daily manna the first thing in the morning (we can look at the example given to us in Exodus 16 and find the pattern for make it a habit. Establish your life and your schedule to allow you the necessary time to do your daily collection first thing every morning to give you the strength to make it through the day. And remember that today’s manna will not be sufficient for tomorrow; tomorrow’s manna must be collected tomorrow morning.

Today's Passage : Today's Passage :The Story of Abraham [11]
Bible Verse:Genesis 15:12-16 (ESV)

"As the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell on Abram. And behold, dreadful and great darkness fell upon him. Then the Lord said to Abram, “Know for certain that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and they will be afflicted for four hundred years. But I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve, and afterward they shall come out with great possessions. As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried in a good old age. And they shall come back here in the fourth generation, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.” "

Message: Abram has heard the wonderful news from God, that he will have a son and descendants as many as the stars in the sky. And having made his sacrifice, the entire scene turns dark, for there is bad news to come. The scene is set like a Greek tragedy; the sun goes down, Abram himself goes from wakefulness to deepest sleep, and the prophecy given to him concerns a dormant, dark period of Jewish history. In fact, saying that the Hebrews will be sojourners in a strange land and servants is softening the blow; in fact, they will be captives and slaves of the Pharaoh for centuries, although (as we have learned) we cannot trust the term “years,” because our calendar did not exist. If we use other passages from the central part of Genesis as a guide, the Egyptian captivity lasted more than 100 and less than 200 of our years. But there is a silver lining. Abram himself will live a full life, and the Hebrews will return to their land to stamp out idolatry. At the time, the nomadic Amorites were the primary force in Canaan. But this scene will be played out again and again throughout the history of the Jews: capture, servitude and removal or dispersal, followed by a return to their land to reclaim it from heathen squatters.

Prayer : Oh God Almighty, send me Your light and truth, to keep this day and all the days of my life. And may Your mighty hand protect me, and all my brothers and sisters who have joined me in prayer this day, blessing our homes and our lives......Amen
