If you do not already have a habit of gathering daily manna the first thing in the morning (we can look at the example given to us in Exodus 16 and find the pattern for make it a habit. Establish your life and your schedule to allow you the necessary time to do your daily collection first thing every morning to give you the strength to make it through the day. And remember that today’s manna will not be sufficient for tomorrow; tomorrow’s manna must be collected tomorrow morning. Wednesday, March 24, 2021
Today's Passage : Today's Passage :My Kingdom is Not of This World [2] (Galatians #67) Bible Verse:Galatians 5:16-17 (American Bible) "16 So I tell you, walk in the spirit and in no way fulfill the lusts of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires contrary to the spirit, and the spirit contrary to the flesh, for these are opposed to one another, so that you might not do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not subject to law. 19 Now, the works of the flesh are wll-known, including fornication, impurity, indecent conduct," Message:
Anyone who places faith in the things of this world will be disappointed; the Bible promises it. “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.” (Matthew 6:19)
“You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” (James 4:4)
We must pay our taxes (e.g. Mark 12:17) and be subject to the ruling authorities (e.g. Romans 13:1), but we cannot place faith in them. Political institutions are creations of human beings within the world. “We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” (1 John 5:19)
We try to perfect the world by imposing our own notions of justice, and fairness, and morality upon everyone else. But the world is not perfectible. The world will become more and more openly evil; God will destroy it; and those who know Christ and are indwelled of the Holy Spirit will be saved or resurrected. It’s right there in black and white.
Christ eternal
This may sound like a gloomy message, but it isn’t really, any more than telling someone that their chances of dying are 100%. It's a simple fact and stating it can help us see that we should not let the world drag us into its empty dialogues. If we get “hung up” on gay marriage, or Presidential candidates, or other issues in this world — well, just think about what “hung up” means. When I hear the term, I think of someone headed down a river snagging their boat on a tree limb, or a horse getting caught in a thorn bush.
Christ was tangentially a great moralist, and the founder of the church; He had a number of secondary roles. But we can never lose sight of the primary purpose of His life and death: He came to bring eternal life to sinful humanity, by sacrificing Himself on a an instrument of human torture. If we are to get to Him, we must at some point disentangle ourselves from secondary issues and focus our energies on practicing and preaching Christ the Savior. “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:17.)
