If you do not already have a habit of gathering daily manna the first thing in the morning (we can look at the example given to us in Exodus 16 and find the pattern for make it a habit. Establish your life and your schedule to allow you the necessary time to do your daily collection first thing every morning to give you the strength to make it through the day. And remember that today’s manna will not be sufficient for tomorrow; tomorrow’s manna must be collected tomorrow morning. Tuesday, September 24, 2019

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me, “Where is your God?” When I remember these things, I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go with the multitude; I went with them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast. Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance. O my God, my soul is cast down within me; Therefore I will remember You from the land of the Jordan, And from the heights of Hermon, From the Hill Mizar. Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me. " Message:
We must first understand the psalm in the context of the Hebrews. It was most likely written during the life of David by a priestly musician; so, perhaps at a time when he was in the field fighting and things were not going well, or perhaps even when he was fleeing Saul. But, as with most psalms, it equates physical distance from Jerusalem with distance from God. It was adopted and much loved by later generations of Hebrews, when they had been conquered and transported.
Yet we can read and fully appreciate it in the context of modern Christianity. We find distance from God in a metaphysical sense—and at some point nostalgia for a time we worshipped with a large congregation—and the depression and sadness it causes is nearly identical to that of the ancient Jew, who was far from Jerusalem.
The psalmist feels something that all of us have felt. He has spent his life worshipping God and he’s tired of waiting. He wants to see God Himself. He feels like a deer dying of thirst, searching for a river it cannot find. He is upset; he spends his time in tears, unable to eat or drink. The thought of the days when he went to religious services, happily keeping holy days with his community, makes him even more upset.
The answer to his agitated fit of anguish is to realize that it is God who has given him the good things in his life; in fact, He has given him life itself. He should trust God to know when the time is right for them to appear face-to-face.
