If you do not already have a habit of gathering daily manna the first thing in the morning (we can look at the example given to us in Exodus 16 and find the pattern for make it a habit. Establish your life and your schedule to allow you the necessary time to do your daily collection first thing every morning to give you the strength to make it through the day. And remember that today’s manna will not be sufficient for tomorrow; tomorrow’s manna must be collected tomorrow morning. Friday, September 20, 2019
Today's Passage : Today's Passage:He Was Despised Bible Verse :Isaiah 53:1-6 "Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no stately form or splendor; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. In this beautiful passage the prophet Isaiah foretells the passion of Christ. The verb tenses are very peculiar, intermingling the present, future, and past tense, although the events are to occur centuries after the passage was written. This agrees with the notion that Christ’s life, death, and resurrection were known to God from the beginning, that ‘He is, was, and ever more will be.’
Musical fans will recognize two of the most famous parts of Handel’s Messiah: The alto air He Was Despised and the chorus All We Like Sheep. I have included a video of He Was Despised; it makes a very nice musical background for meditation or prayer.
Meditation : Prayer : God of love, Father of all, the darkness that covered the earth has given way to the bright dawn of your Word made flesh. Make me and all who confess your holy name people of this light. Make me faithful to your Word that I may bring your life to the waiting world. Grant this through Christ our Lord.....Amen |
