Dear
Friend,
If you do not already have a habit of gathering daily manna the first thing in the morning (we can look at the example given to us in Exodus 16 and find the pattern for make it a habit. Establish your life and your schedule to allow you the necessary time to do your daily collection first thing every morning to give you the strength to make it through the day. And remember that today’s manna will not be sufficient for tomorrow; tomorrow’s manna must be collected tomorrow morning.

Today's Passage : Today's Passage :Paul Arrives at Rome
Bible Verse:Acts 28:11-16 (ESV)
"A fter three months we set sail in a ship that had wintered in the island, a ship of Alexandria, with the twin gods as a figurehead. Putting in at Syracuse, we stayed there for three days. And from there we made a circuit and arrived at Rhegium.
And after one day a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli. There we found brothers and sisters and were invited to stay with them for seven days. And so we came to Rome.
And the brothers and sisters there, when they heard about us, came as far as the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns to meet us. On seeing them, Paul thanked God and took courage. And when we came into Rome, Paul was allowed to stay by himself, with the soldier who guarded him.
"
Message:
Paul and his company have found an Egyptian grain ship which tried to do what they themselves had tried — to make one last run before the winter storms started — only were quite a bit luckier (or smarter) to lay over in Malta. Its name, the “twin gods” or “Twin Brothers,” refers to Castor and Pollux, minor Greek gods thought by the Greeks to protect sailors.
In the first century, the port of Puteoli (today called “Pozzuoli”), situated on the Bay of Naples ten miles from the City of Naples, was the regular terminus for Egyptian trade. It was the second most important port in all of Italy (after Ostia, which was the port of the City of Rome) since it received so much of the grain Rome needed to survive. The famous Appian Way ran by Puteoli straight to Rome, 170 miles distant. It is a tribute to Roman engineering that cars can still drive upon it today!
Paul is put under house arrest. One can only imagine that the commander of the guard might have spoken well of him to the authorities when they arrived in Rome. But it is a most fortunate circumstance, as it will allow Paul to continue his mission in the world’s greatest city.
In fact, in his Epistle to the Romans, Paul stated that it had been his intention (for many years) to go next to Rome and help the church there, which had grown without the needed guidance of one of the apostles. It is entirely possible that he manipulated the entire situation in Judea, or at least laughed up his sleeve, when his punishment turned out to be the exact thing he most wanted!
Meditation
:
Prayer :
If you are with me, O God, who can be against me? For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus my Lord............Amen
